Community healthy kitchen and allotment project
Metropolitan areas such as the West Midlands have some stark health inequalities resulting in a difference in lifespan between the poorest and richest areas of around 7 years. Although there is only so much than can be done to tackle poor housing, high unemployment and poor air quality there is considerable scope to improve health through promoting greater awareness of the key principles around healthy nutrition.
We are currently helping to support a local charity that provides around 5000 community meals a year to grow their own food on a local allotment and to run an on-line health kitchen project that simultaneously demonstrates healthy tasty recipes and provides key healthy nutrition advice .
